In 1976, Olivier Baussan, 23, had a unique knowledge of plants. It is with this knowledge and his perseverance that he created what is now known worldwide to us as L’Occitane (lox-ee-than). In an old soap factory he brought back the traditional art of Marseille soap-making. To preserve the beauty and symbolize of Provence Olivier creates a Lavender collection.
Mr. Baussan traveled the world exploring new ingredients and traditional ways of creating all natural beauty products which led him to produce and open various boutiques worldwide to sell his amazing products. Which include bath& body, hair care, skincare, fragrances and a men’s line.
In 1997 L’Occitane being a sensorial brand is one of the first companies to feature Braille on its product labels. In 2001 L’Occitane partners with ORBIS and international NGO to fight blindness. In 2006 the L’Occitane Foundation was created with two goals in mind: the support of the blind and the economic emancipation of women. L’Occitane products also supports women’s literacy centers.
